Park Here, Never Closed.

This is a great find. Really great.

Ask anyone who lives in the city, because everyone encounters car parks. There’s two major companies; Icon, which brand is black, white Helvetica and orange simple graphic illustration, and CP which is whatever sans typeface they were feeling like that week, bold white type over a blue background.

Icon is beautiful, but banal. Helvetica in New York tends to blend in by nature, see my NYC style guide. And CP is just horrendous.

This sign looks like it belongs in Ikea, look at the beautiful typesetting and simple description. They used the term “Never Closed” instead of 24 hour. The variance of weights gets me too. So well done. We need more of these around town.

Tip: This lot is probably outrageously expensive, it’s under the GM building at 59th and Madison.
