At least it’s a classic Vignelli mark.
The B and the double-Os are still my favorite part about this logo. The Little, Medium and Big Brown Bags are also a piece of typographic love. Can you imagine that discussion today?
Designer presents idea to fashion retail brand:
Here’s the solution for bags, were gonna take the same typeface we used in the logo, and print the “size” of the bag down the side. Nothing special, just a plain paper brown bag. And people will LOVE it.
I’m sure today, unless the client is particularly design conscious, would start spouting off about how it doesn’t “align with their communication strategies” and “fails to leverage ample portable billboard space to luxury consumers.”
Perhaps they did say that to Vignelli. He just may have been too damn stubborn.
