Mar 15, 2010 Signage
A few really interesting things about this shot: The photo is actually not black and white, it was just a really rainy wet day yesterday. The sign itself is gigantic. And believe it or not, this place is actually still open and running. This script is easily visible from a block away, no questions.
It’s hard to tell how I feel about decent typesettings inappropriately mixed. Was there a time when this sign was being made, that the guy cutting and setting the type was a decent typographer, but was brow-beaten to death by the client about having his name in ostentatious wispy script, and his sub brand “Mirror Fair” (Fair, get it? Like Mirror, mirror on the wall…) into a medieval celtic script.
My favorite though, is the condensed ampersand between Antiques & Repairs.
