Lucky Strike

This place is a completely unpretentious french restaurant in SoHo, which in itself is a complete oxymoron.

Beautifully condensed type (nicely tracked out) on black & orange? Absolutely classic. Hence why I’m such a fan of this Herbert Matter mark.

Update: After scouring around looking at faces, i’m about 99% certain the face is: Los Alamos Pro Fat Man by Red Rooster. See the setting from myfonts.com below.

Note: I plan on spending a bit more time in SoHo. It’s an absolute goldmine of great classic / handmade typography. Expect to see much more from this neighborhood.

Any idea what typeface that is? Or something similar at least?

I’m looking around right now to see what I can find. It shares similarities with Reforma Grotesk, but the R has a slight curve on the foot, and this sign goes straight.

I’ll let you know when I find it, this one is driving me crazy.

Compacta looks close too, but where the leg of the “R” joins is much higher on this face.

It’s WICKED close to Neue Steinschrift:

Still not it. This is killing me. :)

    GOT IT! Finally:
It’s Los Alamos by Red Rooster.
    It’s spot on.

The font itself is Los “Alamos Pro Fat Man”
    Dead hit for the face.
