According to Wikipedia, Robert Gair was a large paper manufacturer in Brooklyn, and had many buildings throughout the borough, like this one above found in Dumbo.
The story goes that he accidentally discovered how to make pre-manufactured boxes by putting creases in paper during the same operation that he cut it. Eventually his company went on to become involved in the corrugated cardboard business.
This sharp edged chiseling, with it’s pointy A’s is a pleasant site in the old indsutrial Dumbo.
